September Art Jewelry Elements Challenge-Trees

The Challenge this month was issued by AJE team member Caroline of  BlueberriBeads.  She chose Trees as the Theme. So many thought it would be a fun challenge and joined in. I was interested with a couple of animals associated with trees.  Like owls, there so cute.
This is a Beech tree cavity with an Owl.

This huge tree is a Burserra simaruba tree, gumbo-limbo, copperwood or turpentine tree.  It is native to tropical regions southeastern United states, Mexico, Carribean , brazil and Venezuela. I just find them so lush and gorgeous.

Then I thought about one of the little creatures we try to protect the trees from. Rabbits like to chew the bark around the base of the trees. I of course want them both to be harmonious together and so I have created this Necklace, where they always will be. I chose this Ceramic Rabbit connecter created by Jenny Davies-Reazor  that I purchased at Beadfest. I added Czech glass leaves and flowers, glass pearls and some crystal dangles.

My chain for the Necklace likewise consisted of the same elements but also with the addition of an Owl.

Thank you for stopping by and please hop around to all the participants in the challenge to see what has been created.

Pine Ridge Ceramic Blog Hop

Today is the reveal for the Pine Ridge Ceramic Blog hop, sponsored by Lisa Lodge.  When I saw this picture with all the bight spring colors, I was thrilled to welcome spring at last. You all know how I love my color. So I just had to be part of this hop. Since everything is randomly picked I had no cause to worry the picture was full of color.  However, when I received my kit it was brown. Don't get me wrong gorgeous brown Jasper, a Pretty Ceramic with a lacey pattern from grubbi, rondells, clasp, a strand of white glass pearls but everything else brown.  This is what I received in my kit

Always up for a challenge, first a pair of Jasper wire wrapped teardrop earrings

Art Bead Scene August Challenge

This months challenge come from a Wool woven Rug by Hosteen Klah titled Summer Thunder. Using Red as a design element in my Jewelry is not my strong point.  I use it almost like, Never. Lol that being said, I attended Beadfest this year and went straight to Artisan Alley where all the Handmade components, Jewelry and Artisans are.  I found the perfect Colored Ceramic focal by Artisan Lisa Peter's
A Nice Chunky focal 2 X 2 inches.  I wire wrapped and attached some nice Smoky Quartz for the neck chain along with some red sea glass from Znet shows I had in my stash.

Lately I seem to be having issues uploading my pictures.  They upload backwards, upside down, rightside left, I apologise.  I'm trying to meet the deadline for the Challenge and will continue to try and get better pictures.  I so wanted you to see this lovely chunky Necklace.  Not sure I'm going to keep that Tassel. A drop might do better, we will see.   Jump over to    http://artbeadscene.blogspot.com   to see what other contributors have created.  Thanks for stopping by.

Artisan Component Marketplace Challenge

I was honored when Kari Asbury chose me as a runner up to receive this component kit.

Kari sponsored a Give-a-way Component Challenge Kit. I was blessed to be one of the receipiants of the kit. Never expected to win but being an Aries by Nature and birth you know we enjoy challenges. 9 Kits were distributed to 9 Artisans/Designers who have blogs to create a blog Hop.  I always love to see  designs from Artist who receive the same design elements don't you.  No one will have the same creative pieces. Well every single component pictured above are the types of components that I have never used in my designs, but would like to, so talk about a Challenge, Hmmm.  The next part was to see who my sista participating designers are. Well, when I saw kelly from the traveling side show, Lori Poppe and Robin Kae I knew I was up to my eyeballs in competiveness.  Not saying the other artist are not Stellar, I'm just familiar with these three ladies work.  I was thinking bracelets and then I see the bracelet Queen (as I call her)  Robin Reed who makes bracelets in her sleep.  I have never  used Sari Ribbon But Kelly Hosford Patterson and Lori Poppe from Bead Soup fame seem to revel in it.  I am feeling a little out of my League. I know there is no way these components will go into one piece by me.  They will have to each shine on their own.The first component for me will be

Copper Component is from Kristi Bowman Design http://artisancomponentmarketplace.com/kristibowmandesign/

Ceramic Component is from Marla's Mud
http://artisancomponentmarketplace.com/marlasmud/

Wood Toggle Clasp is from Asbury Avenue Designs

The ceramic needs to be bezeled and would take the longest so I started with that and created my mini assemblage.  As you know my saying "Wear old, its new again." Old brass filigree with new Ceramic focal assembled and set aside to cure.  Now for Copper element I think Blue, beads and gems will do nicely. Into my stash I go looking all the while contemplating what to do with the toggle and Sari Ribbon?

Copper wire, glass leaves and glass flowers, some crystal and glass rounds. Next the Toggle with the matching Sari

Pearls, Sari Ribbon, Vintage Brass Charms.  Hope I did this Asbury Toggle justice.
Earrings Sari Ribbon, Pearls, Laboradorite Gems.  Next up Ceramic and Brass in a cuff, Oh yeah!! Hope you like it Marla

As you see my thought process all over the place. But I completed this challenge beautifully. My fellow Artisans can say wow, that Gloria Allen is aspiring to be an Artistic Designer!

Don't be a stranger Please visit all the participants in this hop and remember to wear Vintage, its new again.
