2016 New Journey Next Steps Part one

Its a new year of retrospect.  What didn't go well last year?  What worked. I wanted to challenge myself and in my efforts to do so took on too many and could not meet them all. Why, because I am still employed with a demanding job that has me on call sometimes. Because like a Hobbiest I am unsure of a piece at times and it doesnt get completed and submitted. I am in the Year of the Jewelry  group where you make and post every week to a theme. Always missing the posting, not this year.  will post for all 52 weeks. Art Bead Scene hosts a monthly challenge where you must use art beads.  I joined so I would stick to my polymer and make art beads and components to use. Always wound up using other Artist beads, which is great for them but no utilization of enjoying the skill set I learned for myself. Let's see B'Sue Boutiques Creative Face book group, lots of challenges, monthly, weekly, you choose. Brenda Sue Lansdown of B'sue Boutiques Creative Group Master class has started. Students will learn how to create a line of their own.  Earrings Everyday, you post earrings on the third friday of the month, from a Inspiration Photo, great fun. Halcraft, buy the beads from Michaels and create, sometimes hard to find the exact beads but its a challenge so lots of choices, but I need to drop this one.  I love gemstones which I purchase through gem and jewelry shows. Sea glass mainly from Znet Shows and Brass Stampings mainly from B'sue Boutiques. Andrew thornton hosts a monthly blog hop. You buy a fantastik kit he puts together for $20 and create as many pieces as you dream and hop blogs to see the same materials used by 15 or more artist each unique. Pine ridge treasures by Lisa lodge.  You purchase a kit, ( I found seaglass through her kits) and you create a Piece(s) and blog hop each month or post into her Pine Ridge Treasures face book group. Dry Gulch sponsors a monthly color challenge and like Bsue and Art Bead Scene there is a prize each month.  I have won at some point from them all. I feel good about that.
What did work for me is my love of brass, gemstones and beach glass.
 Instead of stringing

I really enjoy working the Neckline with wire wrapping and chain attached to some Brass, Gem Stones, Sea glass, whatever the focal may be.
Agate Slice Focal

Silverwar Brass with Pearls and Agate

I luv flowers and have started this new collection. Hmmm I love it, but will customers like. These Assemblage pieces are colorful and are more statement pieces.  However I see the young women 20-30ish wearing big Jewelry and then I
see itsy bitsy focals on chain. Whats an artist to do?
Who could forget this Angelite Blue Parure

Red and Green Agates

Red and Cream Garden
Multi Metal Garden

  3. Gloria, your pieces are lovely. I hear you regarding overcommitment, I have done the same thing. This year I resolved to cut out challenges in favor of the B'Sue masterclass, so I can focus my limited time productively.
